From Childhood Passion to Professional Captain: My Journey in the Boating Industry
I was lucky enough to grow up near the ocean, spending countless days on my family’s boat from the age of five. Whether it was fishing, diving, or just cruising along the coast, the ocean was my playground. By the time I hit middle school, I knew I wanted to work on the water, so I got my start as a deckhand at the local charter docks. Over the years, I worked as a fishing mate—often unpaid—just to learn the ropes, build my skills, and make connections in the industry.

Building a Business from the Dock Up
By October 2020, I’d put in enough hours and developed a network that allowed me to turn my passion into a business. I established my own boat maintenance and captaining service, offering everything from weekly hull washes and engine inspections to private sandbar cruises and fishing charters. I also invested time in training for my USCG Captain’s 6-pack license, clocking over 1,000 hours of seatime to earn the certification.

A Day in the Life of a Captain
Today, I manage five boats weekly, keeping them in top shape and ready for their next adventure. My work includes hull cleaning, engine checks, and regular maintenance to ensure they’re always in prime condition. I also captain for private clients, leading everything from fishing trips to scenic sandbar cruises. It’s a dream come true to spend my days on the water, blending my expertise in boat maintenance with my passion for sharing memorable experiences.
