Airbnb Host & Designer
From YouTube Idea to Thriving Airbnb Business: My Journey as a Host and Designer
It all started nearly three years ago. I was casually browsing YouTube when I stumbled upon a video about Airbnb hosting. At first, it seemed straightforward—just list a property, manage some bookings, and earn passive income. I figured, “Why not?” So, I dove in headfirst, excited by the possibilities. Little did I know, that impulsive decision would lead to a whole new chapter in my life.
Taking the Leap
In November 2021, after a lot of research, I decided to commit. I started with market research, scouring listings and evaluating different neighborhoods. I analyzed everything I could find—demand, location, and even the finer details of real estate opportunities. Once I identified the perfect spot, I negotiated a long-term contract for rental arbitrage, which allowed me to lease a property specifically for Airbnb purposes. That first step was all it took; soon, I’d founded my business and established an S-corporation to streamline operations and maximize tax benefits.
Growing the Business
The first property was just the beginning. I used all my savings to bring my vision to life—covering upgrades, rehabilitation, and creating a fully furnished, guest-ready setup. It was a huge risk, as I didn’t have a job at the time, so if this venture didn’t work out, I would have lost all the savings I had accumulated since childhood. Then, I poured myself into marketing and social media, working out the best strategies to stand out in the crowded short-term rental space. The learning curve was steep, but each challenge pushed me to fine-tune my approach and find ways to elevate the guest experience.
Expanding & Building Expertise
Since that first property, I’ve expanded to three locations, each with its own unique appeal. Along the way, I encountered challenges I never anticipated—from legal considerations to optimizing occupancy rates during off-seasons. Each step has sharpened my skills and strengthened my expertise in managing properties, designing appealing spaces, and fostering memorable guest experiences.
I carefully design each property with a distinct theme, meticulously planning every detail to ensure its unique character. From the furniture to the silverware, each element is thoughtfully chosen to complement the overall design and create a cohesive, memorable experience for my guests. Today, I’m not just an Airbnb host; I’m a business owner with a thriving rental portfolio that combines real estate strategy, design, and hospitality.
The Process: Before & After
In the slideshows below, scroll to the end to see what the units looked like before
1. The Gables Hideout
This was my first project—a small studio efficiency that I transformed by renovating the bathroom, walls, and closet, and furnishing it with a cozy yet stylish design.
2. The Brickell Hideout:
This was my second project—a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment in Brickell that I transformed into a sleek mid-century-inspired retreat. I carefully curated the space with vintage-inspired furniture, bold accents, and timeless decor to create a stylish yet comfortable atmosphere, perfect for guests seeking a unique and memorable stay in the heart of the city.

3. The Surfside Hideout:
My third project, and my favorite so far, is a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment in Brickell designed with a laid-back surf shack vibe. I infused the space with coastal-inspired decor, natural textures, and vibrant accents to create a breezy, relaxed atmosphere. Every detail, from the furnishings to the artwork, reflects the charm of beach living, making it a perfect escape for guests looking to unwind in style.
